Computer Heads, I need help

I tried googling this crap, but a whole heap of stuff I don't need returns. My family computer doesn't load background colors from anywebsite. Every single website is gray. I can take screen shots if you'd like, but I think it's pretty straightforward. We now know that it isn'tthe monitor because we just got a new one today.

WTH?

It must be the CPU then, right? Anyone ever experience this or know how to fix it?

According to my mom, I'm substantially capable at fixing our computer problems, time and time again. I don't want to disappoint.

no it's not. Is your computer devoid of color or not, or is it just inIE/Firefox?

yea, NT is gray, and there's more problems, but I feel as though fixing the color would resolve those. I'm gonna take some screen shots.

It's in both IE/Firefox/Chrome............ oh *$@%, just realized it's only web browsers.

I believe the layout of NT does not consist of an image in the bg...so if it's gray I believe it's your monitor...not sure but what browser are youusing?


EDIT: a color changing virus? scan your computer to see what the heck is going on.

That's interesting...

It's possible that someone changed the options on all the installed browsers. What I would do is install a browser that you don't have yet (Opera orSafari), and see if the problem persists in those.

We can go on from there.

lol @ you googling your problem. Check your settings and see what you can do. If your computer hasn't been acting up then you should be fine. It's justthe color...

Looks like windows 2000, but he could be using the classic view in XP and I know you're on FF I was commenting about why you have AOL even installed. Ifthe pages are loading the same way in IE let me know...

well damn, apparently IE is all fuxxed. It will load 1/2 way

This computer is old, but was rebuilt just over a year ago.

Son (dad) should just get everything brand new.

IE looks normal except i don't see a go icon... how about you type in a web address and try to connect to it...

you'll save yourself a lot of time and headache if you can just save everything & reformat the computer.

First of all, you got a lot of trash on your IE browser, get rid of em. Second, that could just be a FF color preference problem. If all else fails, go chrome.

Ok, I'm back on my laptop.

I DL'ed Chrome and that solved the problem. I'm going to delete FF and download again. I'm going to delete AOL and IE as well, just to get rid ofunused junk.

BTW, the reason I don't know all of this is because my laptop came to me in tip top shape, and I never use the house computer. I don't know how mom andpop used the internet like that for all this time.
