I was lookin for a tech thread to post this in, not sure if there is one. My computer has this msg now when i start it up: windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as: load needed DLLs for kernel. Please contact your support person to report this problem.

Anybody ran into this? What u do? I tried to reinstall xp from the disc but it doesnt run when i insert it. It just sits there.

OP, 99% of the time you're getting that message because XP files are either missing or corrupt.. The other 1% is the HD took a dump and needs to be replaced..

The usual way to fix this is to start your comp from the Windows Install CD and then do a "in-place" upgrade of Windows.  If your system can't detect or recognize your system you're going to have to do a complete reinstall...  You may have to go into the BIOS and change the way your system starts up. Change the order so that it loads the CD drive first.  GL!

Thanks man. I've changed the boot device priority - 1st says cd rom 2nd says hard drive. I save and restart but it gives me the same msg again
