So last night I threw my computer into a basket of laundry kind of hard and I just now tried to turn it on but it won't work. When I turn it on it looks like it's in safe mode and the background is blueish green and it says I need to do a system restore but when I do that it says it failed and it cannot be completed. When I try to start it without doing the system restore thing it loads the Sony vaio (sp?) screen then it stays black where Windows would usually start to load and never starts. Not sure on the model I know it's a Sony vaio and I believe I have windows live ? It's the one before windows 7

Anybody know what it could be? Or how to fix it ? I'd like to try myself before bringing it somewhere to get it fixed. And on that note anybody got an idea of how much $$ it'd be to fix it?Thanks! Im on my phone so pardon any mistakes

Were there damp pieces of laundry in the basket? It's probably condensation or electro static discharge.

It could be any number of issues, but likely it's a drive failure on a partition that loads Windows.  If you have someone that can plug your hard drive into their computer (externally), they can try a program called "Spin Right".  It's about $90 though, so it's not cheap, but it's well worth it if you have important stuff on your drive.  Best Buy will probably charge you at least a couple hundred to look at it and repair it.

I had the same problem with my vaio when I dropped it a year or so back. Model (VGN FZ430). Luckily I was still under my extended warranty so I sent it back. When working with customer support none of the restore options worked. I think its an issue of damaging the hard disk tho.....

Windows vista? Doesn't matter though. Sounds like there's nothing we can do to fix it. Hope you're still under warranty.

Hard Drive Crash?
If it won't let you go past that Reboot more than likely it's that.
I would always just get my laptop re-imaged & that solved it.
