Is there a way to connect a GoDaddy domain to a Wordpress blog without paying the $99 WP upgrade fee?

The guy that built my website connected the 2 without paying for the upgrade but since I had a lapse in my GD hosting and had to restore everything, WP is now telling me to pay $99 and upgrade to pro, in order to use my ".com".

Any help or info would be appreciated.

First, how do you have your wordpress blog configured?

Do you have a free account on wordpress, something like http://mysite.wordpress.com ? You can go into your godaddy control panel and FORWARD your domain to that wordpress.com sites.

Or is your wordpress blog already hosted with your godaddy hosting account like http://www.mysite.com ?

i dont think you have to pay an upgrade fee. all you had to do is point your domain to the your host....in this case, its godaddy. not sure how godaddy works, but once you have the hosting setup, you can just install wordpress onto your site.

not sure why you need to upgrade to pro if you already have a purchased domain?

ahh i think i figured it out....is your domain something like......yoursite.wordpress.com?

if its something like yoursite.com then it should be pretty easy, but im assuming you have it with the wordpress extension. if so you might have to purchase the upgrade.

what i would do is to see if the domain that i want is available....via godaddy and purchase the domain and see if i can migrate all the information on the website over. maybe compare which option would be cheaper...the migration or the upgrade? will probably depend on how much content you have up on there.
