Yo NT,

My wife and I are having our first child so I was wondering what names you guys would choose for your kids. what are some cool names for you guys? I'mhispanic so I don't really want anglo names like ethan or madison (no offense) but I also don't want really spanish names like pablo or juanita (nooffense). I was thinking of names like david or victoria because they are good in both american and latin culture but those are too common (no offense). Sowhat do you all suggest. thanks

My daughter is Emerson.....dope name that my wife came up with.

My second, a boy, is due January 4th. His name will be Jack. Kinda like Jack Kennedy...I feel like it's a really powerful guys name.

If we were having another girl we were going to name her Sutton.

This is probably too "white" but I have a cousin with the name Harper. It's not too common, I think it's a nice little name.

Practice the baby's name and hear how it feels.
You will say this name thousands of times. You will say lovingly and in anger. You will whisper it when the child is asleep and yell it when dinner is ready.

The baby first name's rhythm should match the last name.

In general, the number of syllables in the first name should not match the number of syllables in the last name. Say the first, middle and last name several times to test the rhythm. Say the first name and last name together, too.

Be conscious of what the first name and last name together say. The name you choose if for life. Would you like to end up with the name Annette Curtin?

The disadvantage is that childhood nicknames can linger into adulthood and be uncomfortable. For example, Elisabeth has several nicknames including Liz, Beth, Lizzy, etc.

Whatever the name is, make sure that people know EXACTLY how to pronounce it once they see it. Your child will not be happy if he/she has to constantlycorrect people who say his/her name wrong.
