Costco & PS3 Heads...

i purchased my ps3 a little over a year ago from best buy, the blu ray drive is now corrputed. i called sony and they said i would have to pay $150.
now my question to the costco heads...if i buy a ps3 from costco and keep the new one and return the old broken one will they know?? any responses areappreciated

It probably depends on the Costco but they are the most lenient retail store when it comes to returns so it'd be worth a try.

If costco is anything like walmart with returns they won't test it I think.

The Major Sales department has to sign off and OK the return of electronics so it all depends on if they check the serial numbers. I work at a Costco andsometimes they check and sometimes they don't, so it's pretty much a coin flip.

Yeah they will there is a bar they scan that's on the system it self, so they know if it's that exact system, and not some jerk trying to shaft them.

well my costco didnt check at all, they just made sure everything was inside. i did the exact same thing but with my xbox (red rings ftl)

you do know why they replace it for free, right?

there was so much backlash over the failures, plus it was released with a known issue. they had no choice but to replace the 360 for free.

their failure rate is over 30%, while PS3's failure rate is less than 3%.

does it still play games? if it does just cop a Blu Ray player an your problems will be solved.

I would think they would make sure the serial #s matched but then again it depends on the store/person.

Buy one online from Walmart or sears or any place that offers pay online and instore pickup, they dont check serials that way.
