Actually, the police station and getting an officer to referee sounds like a decent plan. Ideally, these officers know the dangers of Craigslist transactions,so the opportunity to facilitate a safe one would be enticing.

I have no idea where you live, but as the NT phrase goes "Its not that serious".

Meet somewhere in public with a lot of people around...A mall, inside starbucks, Target, Wal-Mart, etc...Bring a friend or two with you if you are reallyunsure. If the other party is not open to this, leave the transaction alone and dont meet up.

People just want to get whatever it is you have to offer and be on their way, you can always tell when something is going by the book and when things areshady.

Just to add for good measure, never meet up at your house.
