Little more help on the subject and people can give you some ideas.

I'm in a business communications class where we're put into 5 groups all creating a business. Bar, Night Club, Travel Agent, Clothing Boutique, and a charity/relief fund are the business'.

well what our groups needs to do is create a brand new product or serivce or use a exsiting one and expand it. We can create anything we wish but we will be trying to sell to potential investors so it has to be something that people would want to invest into.

Depending on how far in depth your project goes, you could say that you are creating both. By listening to customers' feedback pertaining to your product, you are proving a service: making the product better.
