Creativity 101 vol. Beginners

How you NTers utilizin your creative skills nowadays??

I was previously focused on creative writing/storytelling, but school has got me on a heavy lean towards Graphic Design right about now.

Any advice for a beginner when it comes to design? Anything from programs (obviously photoshop is a must - already copped), influences, resources, and def feel free to POST YOUR OWN WORK as well. I need to peep some style to get the ball rollin....

some advice for designing something out of scratch...use anything for creative influence

anything you see especially....whether its a cloud in the sky, or a car stopping at a red light...never lose sight of what you see...if that makes any sense

One project I took on was doing my resume in PS instead of Word. Instead of starting with a blank page I wanted to start with a blank canvas (sounds corny but hey). I found a few amazing resumes and I tried to recreate what I saw so it could help me learn how to use PS. I'm far from an expert but the basics of PS are pretty easy to pick up if you just press buttons and experiment. The final product is being VERY well received and I've been getting more responses from potential employers in general.

All that just to say: "Talent imitates, genius steals." Dont be afraid to use existing pieces as inspiration when trying to be an active creator. Eventually you'll gain your own sense of style from the various techniques you've acquired.
