February is when studios unload their trash movies for the year. The Batman at the least should be a summer or fall release.

Oh no it won’t. Once that Skydance deal is official and/or when Gunn’s latest contract is up there’s gonna be another reboot.

The next movie probably gonna be Batman once that starts

There you go with all these pesky facts . JK . Black panther made sense (Black History month). But the other movies you listed weren't proven properties yet.

Traditionally speaking, January and February used to be a dumping ground for their less than stellar properties. Just seems like an odd release date for one of WB's premiere properties.

Black Panther came out in February cuz it was Black History month, they did not know it was going to be a hit since it was a black superhero movie given that there hadn’t been one of those in decades.

Let’s not pretend Marvel saw BP as a guaranteed hit so Feb was the month they were confident about to release it. Not to mention I’m pretty sure they released 3 movies that year

Similar with Deadpool. That movie was in development hell for a decade. Nobody but Ryan Reynolds believed in the movie and it ain’t like he’s some guaranteed movie star either.

The first quarter of every year is usually when studios test out movies or dump them to stay out of the way of blockbusters from March to August. After that it’s Oscar bait and horror til the end of the year

The Lego Movie had to come out then given that was the year of Winter Soldier, Hunger Games sequel, The Hobbit sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy, Transformers, and Maleficent.

Same exact thing for Lego Batman in 2017. They ain’t trying to compete with Star Wars, Guardians 2, Ragnarok, Spider-Man, Despicable Me sequel, and another Disney Princess live action flick

deadpool is the catalyst for that, its success made studios realize february is a dumping ground and now everyone puts some of their big films there

and they actually release a lot of horror films in february too

Well Get Out was Peele’s debut. If it flopped we wouldn’t even be talking about it.

Silence of the Lambs was in the 90s and that was a time ppl actually went to the movies way more consistently.

I’m just going by what they announce. Last I heard about The Batman 2 was Reeves made progress, script done, production started and it was coming out in 2027. I just assumed they must’ve been filming the movie now.

It really shouldn’t be something that is holding up the DCU Batman debuting.

Gunns Batman is delayed because Gunn is too busy with his own film and thats why they need a dedicated producer that focuses on movies being made, not making it himself

really not sure what Safran is doing over there because right now i think MoT and B2 are the only ones in production

clayfaces been done for months now and is just in post for some cgi stuff but im not even sure if they have a script for anything else?

i mean i think its fine if they want to release on big film per year but it cant be performing like Supergirl


edit: yeah it looks like its WBs decision and looks like they are putting a lot of stock in the JJ Abrams project

Abrams’ mysterious new movie “The Great Beyond,” starring Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega, is being delayed from Nov. 13, 2026 to Oct. 1, 2027, the release date previously held by “The Batman Part II.” Sam Esmail’s new movie “Panic Carefully,” starring Julia Roberts, is opening April 9, 2027 (delayed slightly from Feb. 26, 2027). “Revenge of La Llorona” will fill in for the Feb. 26 date.

Not much is known about Abrams’ new film, although Warner Bros. describes it as “a four-quadrant, all-audience spectacle.” Abrams will be composing the movie’s original score. The movie will be getting an Imax 70 mm rollout, which is made possible by the release delay, as now there’s more time to generate prints.

Even if the studio is just shifting dates that’s, like what was said earlier, the studio 100% needs a producer that’s leading things like Fiege is doing. Can’t have a head of a studio tied up every other year directing his own project and can’t get to other projects until after he’s done.

Releasing a teaser for a movie not coming out until 2028 is insane.
