What is you take on death? Dont try and be a smart $+!,I just want some educated responses.
Do you believe once we die here on earth that its all over, or do you think there is something greater afterwards?
My reasoning for starting this thread is because a friend who was still in high school passed away this morning from cancer and it just has me really confused as to why good people are taken away and the drug addicts, theives, and low-life individuals stay living.
I believe we are truly never gone and that we are recreated into something else as time passes. Do you think maybe deaths such as my friends are meant for a reason like maybe this will bring a disrupted family back together, lead people such as myself to go into the medical field to help people, and just change the path of the peoples lives who were around him for the better?

There is nothing after. You're in the place you were before you were born, before you were a sperm.

As a 5 year-old kid, I used to cry when the thought of death crossed my mind. The 'atheist' part of me believes that once we die, it's basically like sleeping forever. It'll be kinda like how you feel when you sleep or pass out, etc.

Although the other side of me truly believes that there is something on the other side.

My psychology professor said that when surveyed ,most athiests truly believed there was something else after death even if they didnt believe in God. Interesting to me,I wonder what that something else is that they believe is after life.

To be honest, who really knows? The possibilities are endless... the way I see it is you either enter an endless sleep like Fog Raw said, but if this was true I doubt it would be as bad as anyone thinks. Whenever I fall asleep, I never know, it just happens. I've never actually felt the feeling of falling asleep, I've felt the feeling of extreme tiredness but never the feeling of entering unconsciousness.

My second idea is that life goes on. I doubt anyone can remember what it was like when they were born but I can imagine it would be something like that. Whether you're born in another world or back into this world I'm not sure, but I can picture someone just waking up with a new life.

My belief is that it's a mix of both of what I just said. You'll fall into a sleep like state until sometime later you'll wake up. Who knows? You might never wake up, but you're asleep so you have no idea. Maybe you wake up in a better world, or maybe you become someone else, someone new. Doesn't matter though, it's inevitable and whatever happens happens.
