If you live in America you should only need to know English. IMO.

Get that Rosetta Stone stuff I hear its good.

I don't need Rosetta stone, just some help with a few common errors I always tend to make.

I need that reassurance that my syntax and diction are correct.

My Spanish teachers (college and HS) told me it take about 15 years to master the language.

Anyway what happened to the Job Search thread

If you direct me to these jobs you speak of, I can help you with your spanish. I also have some knowledge of the French language.

Diablo loco. Este tipo me manda trabajos en Washington.
Yo necesito trabajos en Nueva York.

only way to improve those languages is to speak them regularly. if you don't use it you lose it. I spit Italian to people who don't speak it sometimesjust to keep it fresh. Spanish I speak regularly.

I don't entirely disagree with you but I don't understand why it needs to be brought up. People in every other country learn multiple languages, especially where tourism is a major source of income. We have neighboring countries that speak different languages it would help to be able to communicate withthem. NAFTA and such.

everyone should know at least two languages. IMO.

No no no. "Diablo loco" es como decir "Damn bro", no te estoy llamando loco.
Arregla eso. "El trabajo es para mo, no para ti".

I'm hispanic and even I have needed to practice a bit. At home I never speak spanish unless I call a relative on a holiday and even then, they tend to helpme out by speaking some english. Try to look for opportunities to speak spanish. When I go out for food, I try to order in spanish if they speak it. Somepeople at places will even like that you are willing to speak the languag ethey are mroe comfortable with. My deli is used to me to the point where I just askfor the usual but I sometimes just order in spanish. I know it isn't easy just finding people to practice with, but use every opportunity. PM me if youneed any grammar help.

Lo siento.

Since there are some spanish-speaking NTers, how about you help me in this post? I will post a passage and you can correct it. Not only will it help me, butothers as well.

it's always easier if you think about what you're going to say before you say it.
granted you've got a good second - second&half window of opportunity before you look silly, but after a while, you stay on your feet duringconversations and it's barely noticeable. hardest i feel for those who are latin but just don't speak spanish enough is the whole "la puerta, elcaro" (masculine, feminine) thing. in the end, you're your own inhibitor. just take it slow and as long as you can get your point across, fumbling theoccasional word wouldn't be that big of an issue.

edit: after reviewing your... er... paragraph, i realized that you probably weren't a spanish speaker to begin with. rather you're just learning thelanguage. sry champ, my advice would be of no use to you.

Just that I have a hard time writing and speaking and that I should be better since I've had it for six years. Oh yea, I don't know whatthe spanish word for "laughing" is. Thanks.

Edit: Why would I want to work on my jumpshot?
