if you gotta ask for a discount, you shouldn't buy it

There are cheaper/better bags out there.

It'll teach your girl about materialism, and that brand name is not everything.

When I was buying my first LV product, I went on eLuxury.com (when it existed), theLV website, and the store on 5th. Found what I was looking for at a high end vintage retailer in SoHo. You're better off checking an actual storethough.

I said what's the point of paying retail if I don't have to.
I have yet to come across Authentic LV for cheaper than retail (unlessit was eBay and that's not too common). Might as well shell out the full amount if you really wanna buy it.

You obviously didn't read what I said. I said what's the point of paying retail if I don't have to.

well your going to.

hahahahaha no. You can buy used, or even new but never worn, on the 2nd hand market such as eBay or other forum market places but you are not going to comeacross a website with deals. That and it is so rampant with fakes that unless you know what you are looking for you could end up spending a lot of $$ on afake.

But yes, there are a few legit sellers on eBay and with bing cash back (assuming it's a BIN) you could save some money (hell, tax free is better thannothing) but depends on the popularity of the bag in question and if any of those legit sellers would have it. If you're *really* interested in finding adeal/seller, check out the purse forum, LV subsection. I haven't been interested in the brand in a few years so I don't even know if the usual sellersare still on eBay or not. Also, a lot of the purse girls have moved their auctions to Bonanzle so it might be worth a shot.

get her a subscription to a charity for xmas.

If you want Louis Vuitton, go to the store.. Point blank period.

Lol @ buying your chick a LV bag for Christmas or maybe I'm just too immature

Damn, I didn't realize asking a simple question about LV bag was such a serious topic for some of you.

Thanks for the few that actually provided some feedback.

It's just that of all the high end brands, LV is the only @##!#*@ that never have sales. Even Hermes has sales on some of their items a few times a year.So unless you're buying used it's tough to come across a deal. That combined with the annual price increases has kind of turned me off from LV.

LV has no sales, no outlets and is sold at LV stores and in certain Macy's. Hope that helped.

if you're flying somewhere internationally, Dutty free shops are about the only way to get LV cheaper. 2nd hand stores come, well, second.

My girl bought a purse + wallet for a little under $2gs, while retail would have been around $2.5gs

Louis Vuitton NEVER goes on sale...If anything, Prices go up $25-$50 Every 6 mos-1year

Lulz @ LV and sale in the same sentence. Gucci has sales every so often, they also have online specials. LV is known for their firm pricing.

you *might* be able to avoid tax by using vuitton.com but thats about it-

I just wouldn't do it on Christmas though It's just bad timing and it'll just ruin it for her, esp. if she knows she's gettingone. She'll be this year's version of empty Xbox 360 kid so you might as well tape her reaction it if you're gonna do that.

Macy's sir.

LV leases the boutiques in dept stores. Their stock is still subjected to the annual price increases and are not part of Macy's sales. Although at somedept stores, you can get the discount if you open up the store credit card. At least you could a few years ago, the rumor was they stopped that but Ihaven't looked into it (Macy's, Saks, NM)
