Just work hard man and do all you can to earn some minutes. Maybe you have just expected to start since you did on JV and let your game slip, or didn'timporve it and people passed you up. Don't just sit there and feel bad, get out there and do work son

now im getting benched now.... it seems that i dont have a role in the team.

Im not really used to getting benched, so i really dont know how to endure it. it doesnt seem like i will be playing alot unless its garbage time.
so how do you guys (bench warmers) get through it? it really bothers me alot and hurts my feeling!

No its not that.. 7 of the players that are in my grade were in varsity since their sophomore years... and they brought up 2 freshman (tall and athletic)
and im working as hard as i can, but the coach only plays 8-9 man rotation.

Guard the best player each practice buts his *** every day be the first on the court last to leave never talk back and take advantage of your limited chances.

You can always work harder man, maybe you play more of a 1 on 1 style and don't mesh with the team as well, maybe your ability just isn't up to parwith the others, stick with it though, someone can always get hurt or whatever and then it could be your time to step in. If you want it enough you will find away to get some playing time.

You gotta go the extra mile and do what everybody else on the squad doesn't do. Be the first one in the gym, put up shots before practice...be the lastone to leave, get some extra work in after too. Your coach will notice.

Your just not that good then, and it's not really "getting benched" if you weren't playing in the first place.

You just have to put in your best effort everyday during practice. Just keep it up and feel good that you're one of only 12-15 players out of your wholeschool to make the team.
What position you play?

yup, as a starter, got benched for a few games as a junior for showboating during a blowout.

.

but it was for a 2 game stretch against some terrible teams and i didnt sweat it because as i expected i was conveniently inserted back into the startinglineup when we faced a big team.

if you are key to your team's success, you will play. if you dont play, you have your answer.

u are probably one of those players that was kept on the team that coaches hoped would become good. you were good enough as a freshman (probablya tall kid as a 9th grader with minimal promise) but never turned that corner from being a dude with potential to being a dude with game (thus the 2 years onJV) Now that you are a senior, coaches know that you paid your dues and put in work (probably played a lot of spring and summer league ball and went to allthe off season workouts) BUT just arent that good to get on the floor in situations that matter. Now that you are a senior, u cant run with the JV so you wereput on the Varsity to finish your career out.

You can do 1 of 2 things.

1. Quit. But remember no one likes a quitter and thats the easy way out

2. Assume the role that has been given to you on this years squad and work to make the team better. You have to be that player that stays focused on thebench during games and work hard on the court when ever you are called to go in, regardless if its "garbage time". You also have to work hard inpractice in order to keep your starters tuned up for games. No one, especially players, likes a dude who lags in practice and has no value. Im not sayin bethe "rudy" of the team and get beat up but you must know your role and finish what you started.

Admit your talents to your self and recognize your role
