To answer the topic of your thread, they call it the World because it sounds better than saying "United States.. and Toronto" championship, plusamong the global basketball leagues, the NBA is the best.
However for the other comment, just because you saw some promising players doesn't mean they can beat Lebron or Kobe. Consider the quality of theiropponents, and chances are, if they were good enough to be compared to the best talents in the NBA, SOMEONE would have heard about them or contacted them atsome point. They wouldn't just go completely unnoticed unless they're playing ball in some village. This isn't the Air Up There, and you're notKevin Bacon.

Although USA is the best in producing basketball talents but i believe that there are amateurs out there, both in the US and around the world who are/or could be just as good as Kobe, Lebron , Wade etc.
