Keep stackin/saving and get a better car. 1500 car you asking for trouble and money spent to fix those problems that will inevitably happen.

Save up another 1500 at least first. You could luck out on getting some really old and fairly reliable but thats a smaller chance @ $1500. If it were me and I HAD to buy a car at that price I'd get an early 90's accord. 90-93.
