No one ever mentions Duncan when talking about clutch players.

He always makes clutch plays when the game is on the line, whether its on offense or defense.

Scrolling through the answers I realized how gung ho everyone is to debate Kobe, MJ, Melo or any other big name.  Robert Horry defined clutch.

this says in the HISTORY of the NBA, not current players.

I love Melo, but there's gotta be a Miller, ( I know first hand) Jordan, Kobe all in my list. Horry is not # 1 but he deserves a consideration at least.

I know West has a clutch label but I've never seen him play, so I'd feel like a hypocrite choosing someone I've never seen play live.

LeBron clutch eh?

MELO!!!

Spoiler [+]
The question is loaded. Clutch isn't always about making the last shot. It's about making the right and impactful plays. I just love to say MELO!

I agree with the jordan/kobe/miller/horry mentions but that's about it as far as all time goes. And some of the game film for Mr. West will showcase how he received that nickname, as well as being the man on the nba logo

I've never seen Jerry West perform live so I can't alter my opinion based off of grainy nba footage on youtube or a damn video game. It's not even a slight I just can't consider him if I wasn't tuned in to a game.

No you wouldn't. You'd still be a bum.

I just can't understand how Kobe is more clutch than MJ when he is not as efficient as Jordan in the clutch.
Kobe is more clutch in the regular season than in the playoff which is a fact.
Jordan has been as clutch in the regular season and playoffs which is also a fact.

This is not just game winning shots but shots that were made in the final stretch of the game.

Another thing, I do not think that Kobe is the second most clutch player in NBA history.

robert horry

hes won win rings based on clutchness alone

but he is not a great player by any means

LMAO of course Kobe is clutch.

He aint passing the ball... even if God was his teammate

He's the biggest Kobe stan on this board, of course he's going to say that nonsense.

Some blatant ignorance in this thread with so few mentions of Larry Bird.

Of those I've seen play, it's a tie between Bird and MJ. Yes, Larry Bird was that good.
If there's a gun to my head, and my life depends on whether or not their team wins, I'd have no problem choosing one or the other to either make the play for someone else, or hit the shot. They never looked scared down the stretch of a game, ever.

No one has mentioned Magic?

Jordan Kobe Magic Reggie Horry Wade.
Chris Paul will be amongst the great clutch players when it's all said and done.
