This x1000. A lot of actors pick and choose movies that they know will make them look good. One of the most famous actors out there who is slightly overrated because he picks and chooses is Leonardo DiCaprio. Don't get me wrong, I love the dude but he picks and chooses the scripts like no other.

What's wrong with that?
Dude has a range of roles under his belt already.
He can choose ANY role and make it great.

I'm gonna rep for the women.

Charlize Theron - Monster
Natalie Portman - Black Swan

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that. But I would like to see him go outside of his comfort zone as he ages and matures. He's been in that same type of role for the last couple years and it would be nice to see him expand his horizons. Dude is extremely talented, but a lot of people (especially on here) are mistaking great writing for great acting.
And in my opinion currently, Gosling>>>Leo

Of those that come to mind first:

Denzel - Training Day
Edward Norton - American History X
Heath Ledger - Dark Knight (goes without saying)

I thought Vera Farmigia in Up In the Air was fantastic as well
Oh yeah, the girl from the Orphan was amazing too....mind-boggling that a 10 year old could pull off such a performance

Denzel in Malcolm X. I literally thought he was Malcolm after watching that movievthe first time

Brando -On The Waterfront
Anthony quinn Viva Zapata
Cheadle - Hotel Rwanda

Most others have been named so these arent my top picks

Well, it takes a good actor to bring that character to life. Good writing and acting go hand in hand.

You havent posted any examples up, why dont you show us what you mean?

To this day, neither one of them receiving an Academy Award for their performances is a stain on Hollywood...
