Man what game did u just watch? The offense was fine until the 4th WHEN NOBODY EXCEPT KOBE could make a basket. Aside from the last two threes and a fadeaway his baskets were in the paint.
I swear man Kobe just needs to take a game off so this team can get drilled by 25

dawg. im not talking about THIS GAME ONLY. his whole style of play has been a reason (among many others) for our struggle. ive been the biggest kobe fan and supporter for the past 17 years. but his style of play isnt condusive to a winning team culture. it worked before because he was THAT good but at his advanced age it aint gon fly no more. keep judging based on individual games and miss the big picture homie.

you dont see that pau is scared to death every time he makes a mistake because he knows kobe gon death stare him? you dont think if kobe kept going to his teammates time after time EVEN AFTER they miss and EVEN if we lose some games because of it, that we'd be a better team in the long run? goddamn son
I agree with all this, I'd rather not open up that can of worms right now so I'll just leave it at this, what some people see as kobe "bailing out the team", isn't really what it seems
I'd agree with this to some extent too. This game he kept taking bad shots with 8 seconds left on the shot clock rather than passing the ball back to Nash. It totally kills the offense on those plays and the rest of the guys just stand around.

But Kobe has always done this even while they've won their last two championships. It's the good and the bad of Kobe Bryant.

The Lakers shot 19 less shots than the Nuggets tonight. Take away half of that and the game would be in hand. Same can be said for most of the other losses.

technically it kind of was kobe bailing them out but i dont see it that way either

i just saw it as kobe heating up as the team went cold...

he has that mentality that he can will them back and he practically did until dwights turnover

one or two bench players away - and im sticking to it until the trade deadline

Dwight is having an MRI for his shoulder tomorrow morning... The last thing this team needs is another injury

I'd like to see how the Lakers play without Dwight,

Pau at center getting legit touches in the post, Hill at power forward with Jamison off the bench.

It'd be interesting to say the least.

It's sad to say but the Buss family screwed up on this. They saw what the Clippers were doing and wanted the Lakers to run the same style, which was the uptempo game. Unfortunately, they thought a team with old legs and a coach that implemented a 7 seconds or less would be the answer. Looks like we're in the same hole that Mike Brown dug.

Maybe Mike Brown would have worked out better...:lol
He would of.

No way in hell with Mike Brown they would be 15-18 at this point.

Could be a blessing in disguise if Dwight is only out for a short period of time. Put Pau in the post and he either shows he still has some juevos hidden somewhere (while upping his trade value if needed for when Dwight comes back :{ )

...or pau still struggles like he has. injuries or not, it would at least cement the fact his time in purple and gold is done.

Playing without the best defender on the team would be a disaster... Teams already run pick and roll clinics on us

Exactly, we would have been worse with MB. He was 1-4 and 0-7 preseason. So get the hell out of here he would be doing any better.

We need Bernie to get this fixed.

Brown and Dantoni cant not adjust if their jobs depended on it. I don't think Dantoni will get fired either cause that will make the front office look even more pathetic. Jeff Van Gundy and his slow *** pace would be perfect for this team.

Obviously we are a better team with dwight and we need him healthy. im just saying IF Dwight is out (hopefully for a short period of time), we could at least use this period to evaluate where Pau stands with the team and make a decision from there

Jeff Van Gundy I would love. Forgot about him. I agree, think he would be good, but doubt we fire another coach. :lol
i dont see us turning it around unless MDA stops being MDA, Kobe stops playing hero ball, pau stops being soft, and dwight learns to hold the ball up high.
We fix those 4 things and these 3 things... ...
1. Defense (And we are not a great defensive team. That's true. But even on nights we hold them to solid % they still get 112.. I think any other coach could turn this current roster to a slightly above average defense.. Just by running a horns offense. Slowing the pace. Which would then slow the opponent, improving our defense. We go so fast pace, the only way for opponents to counter is meeting fire with fire and exposing our issues.)
2. Turnovers (which you can deduce from the offense having to play perfectly, or else we will lose.)
3. Depth (we can never rest our players because we only have 1 guy who we can count on nightly. And another guy who possesses the talent to do it, but not the consistency
... ... and we're dominating the damn league. But we're not dominating the league. We're 15-18... soooooooo... a little bit of the mark of 'league domination'. :lol... ... :\

I live overseas now so all i can do to catch laker games is streaming it online while at work in the morning and risk getting caught with the boss in the next room. and ive since gotten my co-workers into lakers ball too and even THEY go "you riskin getting fired to catch THIS?" :x

and i just got an e-mail for the first time in months from my brother who's still at LA (he's been a laker fan almost as long as me) and he ended the e-mail with "CLIPPERS REPRESENT!!!!". Didnt even respond that foo with an e-mai... all i could do was the alonzo headshake.

times are tough man :lol

If it makes you guys feel any better. The Lakers are practically impossible to beat in 2k13 :{

Kobe doesn't miss a single shot and Dwight Howard is automatic within 7 feet of the basket.

I'm a pretty good player in 2k and this dude just straight up murked me with the Lakers. Had kobe making fadeaways from 3 :{

I try to play man to stop the shooting and he'll just give it to Howard and he'll practically be the second coming of Hakeem. Really frustrating.

I was on point.
I said Denver would pull away and win by 8 in the final 3 mins.
They won by 7.
Rockets should have as EASY time with this pathetic Laker team in Houston.
Rockets 105 Lakers 92 Final

Im done watching these clowns for the season. White flag waving.
I'll just come in this disappointing and depressing thread to see what went on after games.
Might as well rename it offseason in 90 days.

Reserve Antawn Jamison also continued to be a nonentity, after he complained about D'Antoni's failure to talk to him about why he wasn't playing.

Another one of his huge problems. He always had a terrible lack of communication with players. It's crazy how similar the problems are. Get down by double digits, go on a run get it close, get down double digits again, come back within 4 points and lose because the team can't get a stop.

Can't believe this fool Jim really let his ego get in the way of him making a sound business decision. The defense, turnovers, rotation struggles, etc. can all be centralized to the man wearing the suit on the sideline. Like others have said he gives no dambs about defense at all, the expedited pace with this old squad leads to more possessions and opportunities to turn the ball over, and finally keeps playing all the older guys 40+ minutes a game and inexplicably leaving players out of the rotation.

He's not the only problem, but definitely in his stubbornness to not adjust his philosophy or system to fit the people he has is the crux of us probably not even making the playoffs at this point. Jimmy Buss and Mike Dantoni are doing a damn good job of trying to running team into the ground. Surprised it hasn't boiled over in the locker room yet.

In fairness, we've had Nash and Pau back for 2 weeks. :lol

We're all so ready for the team to get going that every game seems bigger than it really is.

One of the Twitter dudes says that Nash also has a hurt shoulder and it's why he's shooting less. I had not heard anything about that, but it explained why he passed up a wide open 3 last night and gave it to Kobe who was double teamed. Nash would never do that, unless something was wrong with him. :\

What I am not liking is why the offense doesn't have every set down cold yet. Where is the spacing we saw in those MIke D videos when he was hired? Why does Pau set up behind the 3 point line, when he would be just as wide open from 18 feet? (a more makeable shot for his range)

Why does he insist on putting Kobe and Nash on the bench, but playing Pau and Dwight together? Shouldn't he split that further? Nash and Dwight, Kobe and Pau. Or Nash and Pau, Kobe and Dwight.

Where was the sets they ran against Golden State the first game back where they pick and roll with Nash/Dwight and Kobe on the strong side, Meeks or Ron set in the corner on the weak side? That should be a bread and butter, anytime we need a bucket play. Where the hell is that? :{

We can get Houston tomorrow, if we play right (who knows with us) but the second of a back to back on Wed, means Dwight will have no lift. He won't be ready and we'll have to try and get OKC on our home floor just to keep our heads above water.

Saw it last night, and still can't believe it. 2005 the Lakers had Chris Mihm and Chucky Atkins starting, with no Pau Gasol, 18-15. Now we have Dwight Howard, with Nash, and Pau, 15-18. What. The. ****? :lol

got this from the nba thread...
