This is the biggest problem with D'Antoni's system, it's a game of extreme's. If you play average defense, you need Perfect offense, or your defense will look horrendous. If you play average offense, you need perfect defense, or your offense looks horrendous.

Let's split each quarter in half

1st Half 1st Qtr: 16-13 Bobcats Average offense = Bad Defense = Losing
2nd Half 1st Qtr: 14-9 Lakers Tremendous Defense made Average offense = Winning

1st Half 2nd Qtr: 16-9 Lakers Tremendous Offense made Average Defense = Winning
2nd Half 2nd Qtr: 24-10 Bobcats Average offense = Bad Defense = Losing


1st Half 3rd Qtr: 20-7 Bobcats Bad offense = Bad Defense = Losing


It's a game of ridiculous extremes with D'Antoni.. And unless you play near flawless level on one side of the ball, you have to luck yourself into wins.
