before I start this is really not meant to be a you know who vs. you know who topic....strictly about the rules of the game
I always hear about how defenses were way tougher in the 80s and 90s before hand checking was illegal. there's been nothing but old school games on nba tv and hand checking looks the same back then as it does now. you're driving to the rack and the defender tries to hold/ hand check you and you slap their hand off you with your free hand. people make it seem like defenders could just hold you and there was nothing you could do about it. so what's the deal? maybe it's called a foul more often nowadays but to me it's not a big difference
