Did Jay-Z's DOA affect T-Pain's career?

t pain did that to himself imo. with his corny *** hat the joker became the joke

I wouldn't really say that "DOA" knocked T Pain out the box because that was gonna happen anyway (no "hate").

What "DOA" DID do (for the masses... not the few) was blow up the spot on knuckleheads who basically used "autotune" BECAUSE T Pain found success with it and they thought that they could do the same.

From Herbie Hancock ("Sunlight")... to ZAPP... to Teddy Riley... those cats did it in a way where it served as an ELEMENT to the overall song and not as some kind of gimmick or something that they HAD to rely on because they lacked talent.

Obviously, can't say for sure whether DOA derailed T-Pain's career, but I thought Jay had no business indirectly taking money out of peoples pockets.

At the same time, can you really fault him though, in light of ishh like this:

...joint is/was terrible on soooo many levels.

Yeah, but T-Pain won. he cashed out and wont ever have to go back to music. i remember people downloading his app when it was hot.

His albums were good too.

The answer to the question is Yes.  Jay Z gave T-Pain/Autotune it's pink slip from the game.

had no business? stop it.
he made a song about what he wanted to.
he didn't like what he saw so he made a song and put it out.
it's not Jay's fault that it was a a short lived gimmick. What if he came out with
a song called Death to Trap Music? you think everybody would just say **** Jeezy, Gucci, Waka, Scooter, Alley Boy, etc?
NO. The people chose. Did he affect that? yes. So what? He's a music artist he can make any song he wants about anything he wants.

and btw DOA is one of the most terrible beats & song I've ever heard in my life.

No denying it had an impact. I wouldn't put it solely on Jay but he definitely expedited his exodus.
