Did NT sell out?

This place just doesn't feel the same anymore. Advertisements all over the damn place. I mean, you have ads on top, bottom, side. Might as well throw in more ads in between all the replies, since they already take up most of the screen. And yes I know the costs to run NT have gone up but this place is worse than the side of a Nascar. "Contests" just to promote NT and other websites to bring in more traffic. This place feels commercial as hell, and come on, "sponsor specials"? Give me a break.. As much as NT tried to separate itself from the "other guys", it's damn near identical now. No more waiting a month for membership. I get it, you guys want as many users as fast as possible and waiting a month hurts the bottom line. What happened to quality over quantity? NT is going away from being the tight-knit community it used to be.

Use adblock if it's that much of a problem.

With the amount of users/content, etc ... I do think the ads are necessary to keep the site running.

And I don't get why members should have to wait a month. NT isn't an exclusive club or anything.

And I also think a good percentage of the ad revenue goes to charity.

No, no. We're still a better forum by far. Quality of posters on NT > quality on the "other guys'" site. At least as far as I'm concerned. And dont complain too much, I'm sure it was either one more ad per page, or stay on Yuku. Tell me you wouldn't have made the same decision.

I've been using Mozilla for years and I never see any ads. I feel you OP but I still love NT.

Someone mind posting what their screen looks like with adblock? I'm curious if you get the space at the top or is the posting box for post 1 and 2 is still smaller. I click ads from time to time for the benefit of the site(like one every two weeks wouldnt want to cause an issue) so getting rid of adblock isnt on my list of things to do.

I'm on Safari and didn't even notice any of the ads, sure they are there and I knew they are there, but they don't bother me the slightest... It's when Victoria Secret starts advertising here that I will actually notice these ads.

When we were on ezBoard I would go on other sites that weren't as financially stable and they would have ads between the replies. Trust me, you wouldn't want more ads in between all the replies.

I was experiencing the same issue, so I went the adblock route.

Hopefully they dont start banning us for talking about adblock

Love the new platform. At the end of the day, NT is a business and I'm sure they make decisions we will never understand and rightfully so, we don't need to know. It's not like we pay for membership.

Just ad-block like others have said if it bothers you that much. I haven't seen an ad or had to wait for Youtube advertisements in years.

Selling out would be shilling products for Eastbay and Nike like Sole Collector does. The ads didn't bother me on EzBoard/Yuku and it isn't a problem on Huddler.
