Generally rappers that blow up after years of mixtapes or grinding and learning the ins and outs of the industry stick around .

Considering how :eek his hype was all of 2012 I'm suprised to see how fast he lost the spot light and attention . Especially if you consider the fact he can make trap , club, chill/smoking/vibe , twerking/stripper , pop etc joints .. he's versatile in that regard.

Are there any other examples the media propelling an artist to the top and just leaving him behind in a year .

His mercy verse was :x :hat :eek

Guys like soulja don't count cus he had a breakout record early in his career .

Man.... I was rocking with chainz for a while before he really blew up. I just think the music didn't live up to the hype, like he used up all his punchlines and lyrics during his grind to get there that he just ran out of gas. I think that's what happens to a lot of rappers that become so big i.e. Nelly. 50 that once the music quality declines and the people and the industry move on to something else it's like they just fell off the face of the earth. Really can't think of anyone whose decline was as fast as chainz with all the hype he had. Just my opinion though

His style gets old after a while. I had to take a break from him for the longest. But he's dropped some fire in the last few months.

Trap House Stalkin is :x :hat :hat

He oversaturated himself with all them features between 12-13. He wore out his welcome quick. Crazy because that second album was better than the first.

wayyyyy too many features and plus he kinda changed up once he blew

If you haven't seen this you should watch atleast the first 5 minutes this was :hat

Migos next :(
The industry jacked and abused their style so much I don't eem wanna bear it no more. But chainz did it to himself, every verse started sounding the same and he left that trap lane n one u do that ain't no coming back if u fail in the pop/radio lane

2chainz is just not that good. Getting hot and staying relevant are two completely different skill sets, especially when music is so abundantly and immediately available. That's what happens to non-substantive rappers. A new sound is a fad and fads have no longevity. I think anytime you have to be in a mood to listen to a rapper, then that artist has no staying power.

I still rock with chainz like its 2012. I don't care about how everyone else feels about his music. freebase had bangers

Idgaf
That based on a tru story is :hat
Still play it every now and then
Second album not so much

New mixtape drops in 2 weeks. Chainz seems like he can always be a dope tape away from being back on top

His music fell off pretty hard. From Trap-A-Veli 2 to Tru-Realigion he was very consistent, Then he sold out...

that lane is oversaturated and its hard to stay consistent in it, cant be that new hot rapper forever

plus fans are sheeps anyway they just hop on whatever is considered hot at the moment, that trap/turnup lane has a high turnover rate, i expect fetty to be done by the end of 2016

Outside of a select few, who is really checking for 40 year old rappers? Dude was hot for a minute, but the expiration date on the milk carton has passed.

He served his purpose and had a dope career. Far exceeded what he was supposed to do considering he already was a one hit wonder who fell off once before with that Playaz Circle/Wayne song.

He became a household name (your grandma probably knows the 2 Chaaaainz ad lib), never has to work again and I'm sure he'll find some way to get a consistent income based off of him being a marketable personality.

Everyone not supposed to be rapping for twenty years.
