your straight. most companies are just converting the signal from analog to digital.

^^well my company (charter) has digital...and when ours was hooked up by a "friend"....we got the analog

Ok, sorry for bumping this but I have a question before I send someone to spend $.

Someone I know moved into an apartment and the apartment already has "free" cable. Don't know how but the cable cord still has some juice. Comcast is the provider.

If they bought a digital converter box from someone other than Comcast, what would happen? Would everything work fine? They don't have TNT so I don't even want to be over there since the NBA Playoffs are about to come on.

Don't really have an explanation as to why but it just seems like it's one of those things where it won't work. Kinda like putting brakes from a Bmw on a ford pinto. Just different all together. I know someone who hooks cable up on the low low for like 30 bucks. Lifetime (or if they catch on) of basic cable; and it sounds like this is what happened here. The old people moved out and there's still cable. Either that or the old tenants were jackin cable from a neighbor
