Direct TV worth it?

I had free cable for three years and now it's over. Comcast is currently saying my current address is non-serviceable for legit cable, so I am considering direct tv. When I went to google them I was shocked. I have never seen so many horror stories about dish services. They have a BBB rating of an F and a class action lawsuit. This seemed like my best bet, since I could get it through verizon. Does anybody have DTV and is their service as shady and awful as many have said? The biggest concern I have is that someone will charge my credit card if I decide I don't want their service when the contract is up.

Have you tried Dish Network?  Don't they have a promotion of free HD for life for $24.99?

I have friends who have Directv, and they are always complaining about price hikes, and weird charges to their bill.

Just get Dish. I have Direct Tv and everytime it rains I lose signal.

Yeah, I might check out dish instead. I know it sounds weird but I'm not all that interested in the HD at all, plus I know that there are lease charges on those boxes. I want a one year deal more than a two year though. I have one year of college left and I'll likely be leaving from where I'm at now and I have to hope that I can transfer it.

i have free cable too but i'm slowly losing channels...lost VH1 MTV Nick...

all i watch now is TBS Discovery Channel and USA

i refuse to pay for it tho so i'll wait until i move

That was one of my first options since I'm with ATT, but it's not available in my area, neither is FIOS.

That's what happened to me, first they started appearing blue and saying no signal was available, then they disappeared altogether.

Check if Fios is available, I got Fios with phone, internet and tv for a cheaper price than I got the Direct TV, internet (DSL) and phone, and I got the ultimate package from Fios.

I had Direct TV before and i live in SoCal, not much rain but it does get real windy at times and I rarely had problems with Direct TV. Customer service was really great too, I just keep calling every 3 months to see which movie channels they can offer for free to try for 6 months and they keep giving it for free so no complaints there.

Their basic cable package sucks, I ended up missing a whole bunch of channels I had with comcast, and were replaced with a lot of BS stations.

the price you see is for 12 months...but there is a TWO year contract....guess what happens on year 2? RIP

COMCAST FTW These dude about to mop the floor with Xfinity... This summer im bout to get 70 new hd channels, faster internet, NBA league pass in HD, PPV HD, Xfinity.com which allows you to watch (cable and network) shows and movies online for free aswell, espn3 online, not to mention more on demand... as you can tell im stoked!
