Disney’s effort to racially diversify its princess roster with Tiana was welcomed by many, but for those who want to see even more diversity in their cast of princesses, the Let There Be Doodles Tumblr blog has got you covered. The artist behind this blog modified 10 screen captures of Disney princesses in action and imagined what they might look like if they were from different ethnicities.

The artist behind the illustrations said there was “no political agenda in mind for these edits (except maybe the desire to see a little more diversity), I just love working with character design.”

The modified illustrations make for an interesting thought experiment – how different might Sleeping Beauty have looked if Princess Aurora was Jamaican or Argentinian? How might Mulan look if the same story happened in the defense of Rome or Egypt? As the artist points out, “fairy tales are constantly being taken out of their cultural context. Most of the fairy tales that we know now were taken out of their original cultural context and altered. Aladdin was originally set in China. The Frog Prince was Latin, and was altered over and over again in several countries.”

The Disney princes have been having an interesting time of it. Just towards the end of last year, Adam Ellis imagined what the Disney princess roster might look like if they all had glorious, flowing beards.

Sleeping Beauty look like she got that good oochie and that bomb top, and she look like she'll hook up a meal, roll a blunt, fill a bowl and unload the clip for you

Although Disney would never actually put these out...

They look pretty dope.

Man i hate disney

Ppl watch disney movies and think these fairytales are supposed to be real life

Pocahontas snow white and belle would get their clubs shot up

So they wanted to make the princesses more ethnically diverse...but went ahead and changed the ethnicities of the princesses who were already different?

And they turned Raja into Simba and Cinderella into Mulan?

I'm a Disney fan. A this 'it's not real' is stupid, reality sucks and I'd prefer at least a little bit if fantasy for my kids, a great story which gives hope that man can be better, good can overcome evil. No different than telling kids about Santa clause, or Easter bunny...why take that from kids and install that cynicism in them so early? They'll learn the world don't care about them soon enough. I don't eem mind the overt racism, I think it's funny.

This unhappily ever after, to much truth.

The real problem is that all of them are thin. I demand a fat princess so that the larger fans don't feel discriminated on.

Damn man, it's really hard to understand what you're saying with that insane run on sentence. It's just Pop Art.

I have a lot of punctuation in my paragraph, and in mostly proper places. I like the unhappily ever after, i see a lot of truth in them.

One day you'll learn to just shut the **** up. At least until your thoughts are lucid.

That was kinda harsh. Ramble on youngin.
