Pandora is too crowded for that thing to walk around without stepping on a kid...Especially since most of the walking paths are being used as the line for Flight of Passage ~Sarcasm~...

I’m at Disney/DCA just about every other weekend since the wife and I have annual passes. Just pretty much go to eat/drink and chill and maybe get on a ride. Fast passes over the Disney app is the best thing they’ve done.

That mobile ordering was CLUTCH at DW. It was nuts to see people waiting in a 20 minute line just to order some fast food—meanwhile, our order was placed on the walk to the restaurant. Walk in, wait about 5 minutes and your food is ready. Lovely.

Finding a seat still proved to be a hassle though.

You ain’t lying about that.

The line went all the way back to MFin’ Africa when we got there. And we were there an hour before the park opened.

Why Disneyland Can't Use The Word 'Marvel'

Over the past couple of years, Disney has made moves to introduce charactersfrom the Marvel Cinematic Universe into its parks. The biggest of these is Disney California Adventure's Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout ride, but there have also been character meet and greets with some of Marvel's finest added, as well as merchandise and more. Now, Disneyland is set to build an entire expansion of the MCU in the California Adventure Park in Anaheim, but there will be one thing missing when the new expansion opens up: the word 'Marvel.'

Although Disney purchased Marvel Entertainment back in 2009, the rights to the characters in theme parks at the time did not transfer to Disney. Instead, if you wanted to see Spider-Man or other characters in the flesh, you had to go to places like Universal Studios to get your fix. Even today, some characters are not able to be used by Disney, but now that the MCU has expanded, other characters are. Just a few weeks ago, we learned that a few of the Disney Parks -- Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland -- will all be getting Marvel-oriented park expansions. The one in Anaheim is expected to open in 2020, but although Disney effectively will be able to use some of its superheroes in the parks, it 100% can't use the word Marvel.

The LA Times recently dredged up the old agreement made about Marvel characters, which effectively states that some Marvel characters cannot be used "east of the Mississippi River." Those characters not in use by Universal, like Star-Lord, can be used at parks including but not limited to Walt Disney World. Although Disney World can use some Marvel characters, Disneyland is still the better location in terms of what characters Disney can use in the parks, thanks to being located West of the Mississippi River. That's presumably why the expansion is happening there. In addition, the word 'Marvel' specifically can't be used in the title to any of the theme parks. So, you won't see signs anywhere toting "Marvel Land" or anything of that ilk.

Contracts and agreements are complicated things, and this one is particularly wild. In Florida, because the Universal Parks in Orlando use Captain America, Hulk and the Avengers in its parks, Disney World can't even consider using the images of the Avengers in its parks without dealing with the east of the Mississippi River part of the agreement. In Anaheim's Disneyland, the major obstacle is the name.

Which brings us to wonder what California Adventure will call the new expansion. The park called the 2017 season "Summer of Heroes" and events have been labeled with names like "Superhero Encounters." We're assuming the superhero trend will continue with the name of the new expansion, and the park will give it a title like "World of Heroes" or whatever. However, a name such as "The Marvel Experience" is definitely out.

The contract has been in place since 1994, and the terms of agreement are pretty much in place in perpetuity, unless the contract is terminated due to, for example, poor upkeep of the Marvel properties on Universal's part. I'd assume the rides and characters Universal is currently using are draws to the theme park and that party would not be interested in poking the bear and forcing Marvel to go to lengthy and expensive means to get its characters back. So, if you want to see Spider-Man and a good chunk of the Avengers East of the Mississippi, go to Universal Orlando. If not, hang tight and see what the marvelous new superhero land comes with when the California Adventure expansion is complete.

Wassup guys. I’m headed out to Disneyland in 20 days.

What’s good with Disney California right now, I heard a lot of things are closed off?

yup

DISNEYLAND IS GETTING ITS FIRST-EVER BREWERY

Going to Disneyland as a kid meant rides, cotton candy, and pretty much everything children imagine in a vacation. As an adult, you may have realized there's a lot more going on than just rides for kids and sweaty twenty-somethings dressedanthropomorphic animals.

Here's one to add to the list of perks for adults. Disneyland is opening its first-ever brewery in late 2018. Ballast Point Brewing will open a 7,300-square-foot location with a three-barrel "research and development" brewery, restaurant, and an outdoor beer garden for Disneyland visitors 21 and over. The taproom will feature Ballast Point staples such as Sculpin IPA, the Dorado, and the Commodore American Stout, as well as "exclusive, custom, limited-edition beers" only available sold at this location.

The brewery will be located in Downtown Disney, with a menu touting a "taste of San Diego" with seasonally-inspired menu options, many of which will incorporate Ballast Point beer in the recipe.

“As one of Southern California’s premier brewers, for the team at Ballast Point, we couldn’t be more honored to work with such an icon in our great state and become the first brewer at Downtown Disney,” Marty Birkel, president of Ballast Point Brewing, said in a statement. “We hope SoCal locals and visitors alike will enjoy the wonderful atmosphere, seasonal cuisine, and good cheer (and beer) of our signature tap room experience that we plan to bring to Downtown Disney.”

The Disneyland location will be Ballast Point's seventh location in California and first in Orange County.

got to visit DL/DCA yesterday, crowd wasn't too bad but everything was a mess from the parking to the constructions in the pixar pier

they are well on their way on prepping for SWland and renovating where the unused trams and tour buses used to park so no the tram and security points got moved (no wonder they were some makeshift, because they're going to be moving it around) to below the stairs

weather was great and it was actually cold, it was nice but again the tram was a mess and people were elbowing and fighting to get on them on the way back because it was cold we californians fear the rain and the cold

lines weren't bad considering it's still spring break for many, Haunted Mansion was 25m and Indian Jones was 35m, Star Tours 35m and Space Mountain 50m, a little busier at DCA but only on the usual long lines like GotG (50m) and Racers (55m)

also want to say but big thunder mountain is underrated, lines tends to be decent and moves fast but it's just a very good ride

some lazy pics (mostly cheat day food)

burger pizza tastes exactly like it sounds, not bad and their selection at Pizza Planet/Pizza Port looks good and it looks like a viable food option if they keep them after pixar fest

also tried to get a dole whip donut, i got to the stand that sells them and chick tells me "it comes out at 5, start lining up at 4" and i just gave her the "oh hell nah!" face and walked away

was there on sunday and man dca still walled up
think an employee said something about 6-20 being the target date for the completion of the renovation for DCA iirc
day went by fast as hell
my girl grabbed a mike wazowski sippy cup thing, the lines for the sully popcorn holder were OD long in the morning...but the two pieces are meant to attach to each other so Disney knew what they were doing with that.
ate a coco churro, the dipping sauce has hints of the "abuelita" chocolate
also grabbed a coco jarrito for my mom,

yah DCA is going to take a while which makes me wonder why they didn't just wait for pixar fest til everything is up and running

going to midway mania is pretty much a dead end too and half the day yesterday it was down so the life is completely sucked out of practically a third of DCA

doesn't help that the bakc by the Monster Inc ride is also dead, no one wants to do Grizzly River Run because it was cold and Food & Wine is done so everything is pretty much dead

Marvel Land can't come soon enough but then they'd probably have to close down bugs land for a few months too

we arrived at likem9am and walked straight to the ride to get fast passes only for them to say the fastpass kiosk is near the little mermaid ride...but the worker just gave us fast passes via his mobile thingy...we were already there so we waited for 30 min and got on then eventually came back to ride it again later on after we walked around for a bit, also saw the renderings for DCA near the winery place and checked out the pixar shorts
