Disposable Straight Razors...

Anybody use these? I wanna get away from the Gillette cartridges, but I don't wanna get the actual straight edge that I gotta sharpen all the time.


What info can you tell me about the disposables? Can they be used 2-3 times, or just once? How much are they? How much are replacement blades? What brandshould I buy?

I cop the disposable razors, use them like 2 or 3 times each but then again i only shave with a razor about 2 times a month so idk

You mean the ones Barber's use to clean it up?
If you are it's cheap in NJ,the brand is Brenco i think, 3dollars for 2 packs that have 20Blades each(Break them in half,and you have 40 Blades per pack)

Any straight razor holder would be compatible with the straight razor's blades.

You can use them 3 times but you got to check if it's orange(rust) or yellow spots. In order for me to use it 2x(the most i would use it,anymore wouldcause bumps) i don't use water,i shave dry and before+after i put alcohol on the blade and where i am going to clean it up.

If this is your first time using the straight razor blade,i would recommend to use water. I have 4 years experience and i cut myself so many times my thumb hashardened, water makes the blade shave smoother.

Hold the blade with a slant usually 60 or 30 degree depending which side. If you notice bumps after using the blade, it's most likely your skin is verysensitive( my case) and have to change blade every time you use it;or learn how to shave with no water use.

The brand is Dorco for the double edge blades. And the handle doesnt make a difference for the most part. And yea every 3 or 4 shaves you should change theblade so your not cutting when its dull.

I've been using a safety razor (the sort your grandfather used) - and a shaving brush and old fashioned soap for a few months now and it's been prettygood. Took a while to get the hang of the new technique but it gives good results - and it's really really cheap.

My razor was about $9 and I get packs of blades for about $5 for 20 in my local chemist.

I think this is mine - I just got a cheap one and might get a fancier one in the future - the main difference is the look but I would imagine they could have adifferent shape at the edge of the blade to give better results/

It just takes the normal cartridge blades - the square ones. I think that's part of the reason it gives good results - I change them often because they areso cheap. With my Gillette one I was trying to use them for as long as possible because they are so expensive.

Yo Ive never seen that holder in my life. I dont even know how I would hold that to use it. Mine looks like just the regular ones barbers use.

Same thing I have. Those blades are super cheap, they're like $1 for 10 (20) so just throw them away after every shave.

Just as a FYI, expect to mess up or nick/cut yourself when you first start using it.

Takes practice and patience but you'll get it quick.

Like NJ said, Water > Shaving cream for these razors because you need to see EXACTLY where you're cutting and how much.

It makes the blade last longer, water makes the blade rust( turn yellow=causes red bumps)

With this blade you can't use shaving cream if your doing your line-up/shape-up,if your new with it you have to use water and just get better with time butits' a fresh line up, if you good with it.

I use shaving cream+straight razor blade with my neck and lower part of sideburns ; since i do not need to look at what i'm cutting, i am just cutting itall down (don't have a beard).

And yes it is a better shave, it feels alot smoother(pause) but that's after you get good with it. Expect for you to push your line-up/shape-up back,cutyourself 3 or 2 times a week , if your learning how to use it and these cuts burn+bleed like a B.

Tip-Stretch your skin during your shave with the straight razor, and like i said before 30,60 degree angles (depending what part of your face your doing) alsowhen your shaving go mid-speed don't go to slow or to fast. Slow-your causing a rash(it's like your scratching your skin) Fast-you might go in too muchand mess up your line/shape-up

Some financial dude on CNN said that if you dry a disposable razor after you use it, it could last for at least 6 months. When I heard that I was like

I use shape up clippers to shave. Cost about $40 and keeps cheeks and neck hair free.

Go with a straight razor. It's difficult at first, but once you get used to it they are great.

Its not that bad once you learn how to use it. But definitely expect to slice yourself the first couple times just because you have to find theright angles for your face so you can get close. But now that I know what im doing I can make my beard look soooooo fresh. If you want sharp lines on yourbeard then this is the way to go.
