DJing help??

I live in a small town & our clubs/bars have very VERY weak Djing/music selection. I was wondering what it would take/does take to start DJing on a laptop? what are some of the best programs? some easy programs to learn on? Looking to just entertain myself & who knows if I actually become decent @ it, maybe I can make some extra bread in my town & work @ the clubs/bars. Right now, it seems like the Dj's just make a playlist on their Ipod & let it play. no blending, smooth transitions, not flow. it just is song after song etc.

Serato Scratch Live is a pretty good one.I'm not a DJ or a "Laptop DJ",but I used to frequent this record store (miss you DJ Hut!) and my man "OSO" schooled me on it a little bit.It's pretty much the standard to DJing in a club setting.Do you know how to DJ using straight up vinyl?
