SPOILER ALERT, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE.

...

But really, why did Mookie (Spike) toss the trash can throw the window? He wasn't a part of the mob then all of a sudden he wiles out? He ruined the storethat he worked for. Then the next day, he comes and demands his pay, Sal gives him double... and Sal KNOWS Mookie tossed it through! what??

Is it because Mookie wanted the mob to attack the store, not Sal? That's the only explanation I can think of.

nah, it was because he was tired of all the racial tension, and that was a metaphor for the animosity reaching a "breaking" point, so to speak...

"Muh-muh-mu-m... mmmh.... Muh-Malcolm...."

So why didn't Sal blame the destruction of his store on Mookie? Why didn't he take his head off the next day?

i also felt like he did it to save sal from the mob. that's why sal didnt blame him for the destruction

That's how I saw it. The mob we're about to kill Sal but since Mookie broke the window, the mob focused on the pizzeria instead. So he did the right thing by saving Sal's life.
