And if you do, which way did you do it?

I need to get on this ASAP. The last thing I want is to lose all my songs because I didn't back it up on a CD or flash drive.

I have around 4,000 songs in my library (no videos or anything), so how much space (GB-wise) on a flash drive would I need?

Also, is backing up your library on a flash drive easy? I'm not the most computer savvy, so I'm looking for the easiest way to do this....

get an external hard drive. thats where i put everything.

What I would do is buy an external hard drive and copy everything too it. Transferring takes time but its easy.

Ahh....I think the external HD might be the way to go instead of using the flash drive(s)....

I need to buy and external hard drive because I have 19 GB of music. What are the best ones I can buy?

I need to do this also.

The cpu all my music is on is just about done, and I'll cry if I lose my music...

at the bottom of your itunes screen it should say how many songs- and gigs you have

if not go to the folder where they stored and check the property

i would go external HD since it will be cheaper and you dont need it to be portable...just grab something bigger than what you need so as you songs youll beall set-

it should be plug and play so plug it in...find the drive letter and copy over your music folder (s)

External hard drive is definitely the way to go. I plan on getting one soon. You can get ones with like 250 GB for $80-90. That is more than enough room to putevery song you have on there.

ya i have most of all my movies and music on a external ive learn my lesson when my HD took a dump on me and i have to get a brand new one

i think these sites normally have decent deals on externals

www.tigerdirect.com
www.newegg.com
www.deal.com
www.amazon.com
www.buy.com

those are all i can think of off the top of my head.

never done so....ive lost my entire library twice but i guess i just dont learn

be careful with externals though, that's what I did before, had roughly at least 56GB of music(about 63 GB total but some were duplicates), that @@%%@crashed...and it was 1 month after the 12 month warranty expired too...I still have it right here hoping it'll come back to life one day...)

this just brought back bad memories

I got over a 100 gigs of music and I have my music backed up on 4 hard different drives. Cant' be too careful.

no no no no no.... please get rid of that software.

4,000 songs at around 4 megs a song, assuming you don't have super high quality... that's about 16 gigs.

I have mine on a separate partition on my machine, I had a 500gig external that crashed on me, talk about pissed.

I'm thinking off getting one of those HD enclosures though.

When I worked at the Apple Store we usually said 1,000 songs = 1 gig.

I would just get that external harddrive FTW, that way you can keep stuff on there and not take up a bunch of space on your computer harddrive.

Definitely get an external hard drive, but just understand those aren't 100% either. But at least you'll have a backup in case something happens withyour main computer, but just know it's not guaranteed not to crash.

i have an external hard drive and I want to back up my music....I am not too comfortable with the computer. how do I back up my itunes?

Yeah back-ups are necessary when you have over 65gbs of music. I lost it once before. It was a pain in the +*+ to get everything back. Not going to happenagain.
I back-up maybe once every month. I use an external HDD.
