Do you all backup your iTunes library?

all my songs are stores on my ipod or external hd. im sure you can recover songs by making your ipod at as an external as well.

If your cpu were to crash, doesn't an IPOD still have everything on it's drive?

how do you back up the music onto an external hard drive?

Just copy, paste your music folder from your computer's HD to the external

Yeah, you'd need a separate program to transfer from your iPod back to your HD.

Plus, most people's entire music library is much larger than what an ipod can hold.

I have nearly 100GB of music in my itunes library (internal HD) but a 4GB iPod nano.

Needless to say, I'm always adding/deleting music to/from my ipod

I just update my iPod frequently and if I lose my music on my computer, I can put the music back on in a jiffy. Senuti (iTunes backwards, app for Mac) is goodfor the backward process.
