Do you feel guilty when you take a day off from school/work when you didn't really have to?

Ask long as I know I'm performing at by best at work or getting good grades in school taking a day off isn't so bad.

What you think brahs?

School- Im paying for it, so go when I want if my grades are really on point
Work- If I have something very important to do I wont feel guilty

Yeah. I do usually feel a little guilty.

But there are also days when I'm burnt out and just need to chill though.

I feel terrible when i miss college algebra, i go to tutoring often so it kinda balances out. Only missed one day so far tho and i got a 86 on the first test which is supposed to be the hardest of the 4 test we take.

I have a class which I only attend on exam days. The lectures for real analysis are copied verbatim from the assigned textbook. So, since the professor does a lackluster job at teaching and slides many questions under the rug, it's only reasonable to self-study at home or library.

lled out this past friday. Felt guilty but kinda needed it. I was just spent. Work 50+ hours a week, pro wrestling school, gym time & try to squeeze in a date here and there. Was gonna be productive on this day but I wasnt. At all. :{

One of my classes started today. I got to school at 8 thinking class started at 8:30. Turns out it doesn't start till noon. I went home and I'm not goin back this week. I don't eem feel guilty.

I literally was just locked out of class because I showed up 7 minutes late. Thinking about dropping anyway.

As far as school goes, one of my professors broke it down that every class was like $27 or something...that's a lot of money to just wave off, so I went to class until I dropped out, which is free.

With work, I definitely subscribe to the concept of the **** it day...sometimes you just need a day off to guard your mental health (or just sleep off a hangover), plus in the jobs I've had I get paid anyway...so, to put it succinctly, **** it.

I'm literally laying in bed reading this thread about to miss chemistry lecture for the 3rd consecutive week. This is what happens when proffs tell you they dont take attendance.

Nope. Sad really that some profs have to force people to go by checking attendance instead of trying to make their material engaging.

I have a class very similar to this in the next hour or so and I'm not going. Plus that uphill cross campus walk is not inviting to me.

I feel guilty for the fact of missing it but I don't really listen in the class, I learn more reading the text.

I've missed this class twice but haven't missed one day in my other 5 classes.

not at all. i have plenty of leave from work to be able to afford a day off here and there

im about to take a day off of school tomorrow

. if i know its an easy A class and that i can just get notes from someone, then no...dont really feel guilty

i'm assuming you are talking about taking a day off without notice (not a vacation/personal day at work).

if thats the case, i generally dont do it. i think ive fake sick called once in the last 8 years, and i did feel guilty about it. i work for a small company and a small but busy department. when im not there, that means my boy has to cover for me. its not like he can just leave my clients out to dry and wait for me to get back to the office. its bush league to put other people out, just cause i wanna be a lazy bum. if i really dont feel like working, then i usually just call in and say i need to take a day off. i believe that there should be mutual respect between you and your employer. theres no need to try and take advantage of them, and then later try to justify it by saying something like "oh but i work 100 hours a week, so i need some time off every once in awhile". you knew going into the job what was expected of you. if you know that you need a day off periodically to recharge the batteries (which is perfectly fine), plan for it accordingly and request days off.

note to self: never hire any NTers.
