Do you kiss your friends that are girls on the cheek when you greet them?

How do you know if its proper or not? I usually do this with fam like female cousins my age and aunts and whatever but the other day I did it with one of mybest friends thats a girl of course even tho we dont do that all the time it always comes natural but i didnt know her friend was around and I got an akwardlook.

I thinks this is better than giving them a hug...IMO.
