If you have a phone like the g1, iphone, palm pre and all these phones that can play music, Do you need a mp3 player? Why waste the money when u can get a SDcard like 16gigs for like 20$$ but u go buy a zune hd and that 200+$

yes, no questions asked. My phone can play music but i take my ipod as well.

It really depends on the person.

For me, a phone is enough for my music, but some people want to bring along their whole library along with them or some videos so they choose to carry aniPod/MP3 player.

I have a 8gb touch and a 16gb 3g iphone.. I don't even use the touch I actually let my ex borrow it since January (just got it back). I will start using mytouch for the gym tho or flip it and cop the new nano..

Any nike armbands out there the touch or iphone? I know there is one for the nano.

most people who work out would say yes.

small ipod > my iphone (while running)

yea that's why at the moment i only use my phone to play music but i only have the 1gb card that came with it

Yes I need both. I can't plug my phone into my car's head unit and I can't plug my phone into my home stereo. If I had an Iphone I might only needone.

My iPhone is good enough for me
Don't wanna worry about charging 2 devices

Phone interrupt your music. or when you study they can be quite bothersome, ipods dont send you alerts saying "what are you doing"

I see where your coming from though, my boy uses his g1 and thats it.

Ipod have a lot of uses now days, you can connect them to almost anything. Its like an entire cd collection and the palm of your hand, hook it up to your deckand your "good to go"-Beenie Man.

It helps though, i dont have the ipod touch, im to cheap to buy it. And all i do is workout with my ipod, so im never going to see the screen. So i ebayed myipod classic was like 100plus for 120 gigs

The Touch Pro weighs like 5lbs. Try running or working out with it in your pocket

I need 2. My Media player DRAINS the life out of my phone. My IPod can last me an entire 12 hour shift w/o charging. My TouchPro lasts me maybe 2-3 then I haveto charge for 2 or so. Besides, an IPod is so easy to deal with and I have 8000 songs plus 75 videos on it. I can't fit all of that on my phoneobviously...

***EDIT*** And phones are unreliable. My TouchPro freezes and restarts OFTEN. I have zero complaints about my IPod...

Depends on the person and their needs.

If you have a huge music library and want access to all of it on the go, then using a phone as your music player won't work. Plus considering people whostore movies and television shows, hard drive space fills up pretty quickly. Additionally, as others have mentioned, if you workout using a phone is moredifficult than a smaller, lighter ipod/zune. Not all devices are also compatible with phones to play music.

It's really not that silly, especially since the ability to carry large amounts of music on your phone is still a relatively new concept, people are usedto having separate devices for individual needs.

i think it's because a lot of people use their smartphones so much that if they used it for music as well, their phones might die even quicker than theyalready do.

You can't play music through a home entertainment system without putting your iphone on airplane mode. That means no one can call you.

I use my 1st gen iphone as just an ipod. (it fell in water and thats the only way it even works)

but comeone you would rather spend a extra 200$ for a 5pound weight difference?

I dont like usin my iPhone to play music cause I hate draining the battery. I'd rather use my iPod. Barely use it now though since I'm on my laststrike at work.

I like my 2 devices. Listing to music and doing everything else on my BB, my battery wouldn't last throughout the day.
I also use my ipod in the car alot and like just keeping the ipod in my center console.
My music library is also growing, and it won't on 1 device with all my apps/music on the phone
