God forbid anything happens to our collections (knocks on wood) but things happen (Fire, Flood, Tornado, Robbed, Etc.) Does anyone have their collection insured? this is something i'm really looking into. I've contacted Mercury Insurance and the max they cover is $2,000 and thats a joke. Any info is appreciated.

The tough part is establishing the true worth of your collection. I doubt you'll get anything close to what you put into it for insurance purposes.

i've been thinking of this as well....

we could use FlightClub to show the "true" value

when i was on the phone with the guy and i gave him an example using the South Beach Lebrons 8s How much i paid $225 and gave him Today's worth $800-$1,000 he said "i dont believe they are worth that much"

They are covered under your home owners insurance if you have it. Just document what you have.

in theory this should be true. i would also recommend contacting a specialty insurer ie: one who specializes w/ classic cars, gun collections, baseball/comic collections etc they should be able to give you the coverage you want. imo the cost of the insurance would be prohibitive. (Lloyd's of London). what would help most is to get it appraised (that would probably be the hard part) and you should be able to insure it.

Been thinking about this too...itemizing each and every pair would be time consuming but well worth it. Also been thinking of putting like half in storage just in case....you never know...at least a 3rd or something....

Wouldn't want to have to lose everything in a fire or something. I'd cry for years.

oh....so I am insured? I haven't itemized so if something happened and I told them that my total collection was worth __________. All-State would probably hit me with the "c'mon man" and hit me with a bs check wouldn't they? bastids...

Yea looks like I sold them short there.

BUT after looking at more auctoins they go for around 500-600ish.

Still a huge difference, compared to 800-1000
