I'm thinking of gettin my hair braided becuase I'm sick of my hair being all over the place. Half of my friends say it really hurts.

Who has braids/cornrows?

Does it really hurt that bad?

Just the first few times ... but not if the person knows what they're doing.

Leaving them in too long will hurt, too.

lol i did it once in 8th grade she did them way too tight
took them out in the middle of a bball game

For the first couple of days it does. After that you should be good besides the occasional itch here and there.

it depends on who does it
when the neighborhood skeez used to do my hair.. didnt hurt at all
but my cousin braids mad tight.. so when she did it, #@$# was different.. hurt for like 3 days

dang, i aint have long hair since 02.....but it is always tight the first couple of days until it losens up or your hair grows....but its not exactly painfullunless the wrong people do it

Depends on a couple of things:

1. The tenderness of your scalp. I'm tender headed so when my aunt braids the front of my hair, like, right at the start of my hairline, that $&^+feels unbearable, but the rest is almost unnoticeable.
2. The way the person braids your hair. My aunt's braids are tight, but not TOO tight. When I hit up FL, and my cousin braided them I was feeling it forlike a week.
3. How you get it done. When you get all ambitious and try crazy designs and styles, you'll be feeling that $%*+ n_.

I had them for 4 years.

And I can tell you, who does your braids and how they do them is the most important thing. I've had very neatly done braids that were done nice and tightand didn't hurt at all. Literally when I got home, I couldn't even feel that I had braids.

I had some woman a while ago who damn near ripped my skull out, I switched braiders and it was heaven after that.

The first time I got my hair braided it hurt, but it wasn't bad. After that it was a breeze. Got rid of my braids though, traded them in for dreadlocks.

it depends on the tenderness of your scalp.

however, if the person is pullin out patches of hair, you might want to reconsider getting braids...and getting on a Rogaine regiment

like some others have said it really depends on you. depending on the texture of your hair you might want to be cautious of who braids your hair. bc if theybraid too tight for your texture you can get traction allopecia. but anyways it doesn't bother me .. i usually just fall asleep.

Real talk it hurts, especially when they first start right at the front of your hairline. Once they get goin its not that bad. I had to cut my joints tho...Itwas just time. But why get braids, they are wack now. Chop ya hair off and get a clean cut homie

waves > braids

it depends whos doing it....

I had some shortys that braided tight as #%#% I would take tylenol BEFORE

other times it didnt hurt much at all, depends on the braider and what type of braids/designs you are getting

Yes, especially if your doing it for the 1st time. If you get a girl that knows how to do them well, she'll probably make them really tight and your scalpwill be pulsating. Just tell her to loosen them up though if it gets to the point of unbearable, otherwise man up

Depends on how gentle the braider is and how sensitive your scalp is but it hurts. Especially when the pull on the hairs near your hairline. I got a braid oncethat was so tight I look like i just got botox, I couldn't make any facial expressions.

that ##*@ hurts....I couldn't bare it when I had braids...it even hurts to get my dreads braided
