Does "Promo" equal fake?

Hey peeps I met up with dude the other day in the hopes of buying a pair of Black Cement III's. Shoes were DS and looked legit but the inside tag was stamped the word "Promo." What does that mean, I have never cam across that before. Does it mean they are fake?

One thing is for certain, that midsole/air unit is not authentic on the promo IV's.  Doesnt look anything close to what Nike/JB uses on their IV's and Flight 89's.

Uhhhh, NO! Promo on tags does not = fake! Check out the cleats in my Avy, they say Promo on the tag and they have a #52 on the back instead of 23. You just have to be aware of who are dealing with. These FSR of general release pairs on the other hand I would stay away from.

I personally don't like how people say promo is fake. Promo is just a sample of the shoe that they made before they make the full production of the shoe. That being said i wouldn't want a pair and don't suggest anyone buys them. They are not supposed to be sold

I do believe you could get real promos, like the cleats mentioned, whether it be PE's etc.
But that's usually indicated on the inner tag, not stamped in the shoe.

And nowadays, I agree that all of those HK, Air-Randy, early release shoes are all considered fakes or variants.
I don't know why people are buying from these sellers, just to be greatly disappointed and constantly posting on here the garbage they received.

A lot of fakes get marked promo, but not all promos are fake.

I picked up a pair recently and was really happy with the quality but after seeing all the "promo" legitimacy in question on here they went back to the seller. I did a quick shape comparison to my Pure$ 3s from '07 and noticed a few differences but nobody would ever be able to point them out if your wearing them.
