Looks like a typical boat shoe. A lot of brands make them, ie Rockport, Sperry, Banana Republic.

I stopped by the local Clarks store and they have a buy one get one half off sale for men shoes. It works on the desert treks and desert boots too.

got a question how close is the color "basic sand" to white?

lookin at a pic online and they look white called a store they said they didnt have them so i now turn to NT any help

Not sure about basic sand, but I had a jacket that was sand. I'd say it was white mixed with slight shade of khaki, but still a very lightcolor. Great color, especially for spring.

Whats a good product to protect/treat a new pair of leather boots? Specifically UPS just dropped off a pair of Beeswax Clarks DB.

Dont know why, but this jacket is CRACK to me...

For all of the Clark boots owner, how does the crepe sole hold up over time and how comfy are they? They buy one get one half off got me thinking about a pairof desert trek and desert boot.

The crepe sole is probably the most comfortable sole you will ever wear.
As for how it will hold up, it won't last as long as rubber but it will hold it's own.
As long as you're not dragging your feet or moonwalking on asphalt then it will last for a while.

is there any way to resole the clarks desert boot? I read in some other forum where you can send it somewhere and have the crepe resoled. As far as the comfortgoes, it feels like my foot from the ankle down is braced tight almost like im wearing a medical cast. When I stand too long on one leg, my heel gets sore andnot to mention it weighs alot so it feels like you're dragging a couple pound of rocks.

But then again I'm in the stage of breaking them in and I usually wear light boat shoes so I'll have to get use to them

Also, it is wise to wear tube socks with it because the top of the shoe tends to scrap the calf area

I don't think it can be resoled like other dress shoes. The DB's are like regular sneakers in a way, I guess a rubbles sole could be glued to it butnot similar to dress shoes at all.

I think you feel liek that because it is still a bit stiff but I think it feels pretty light.
Then again I wear a lot of boots so that may make these feel like a feather on my feet.

I just read that a fella was quoted $95 to get them resoled. At that point, it's the cost of the shoe itself so buying another pair wouldobviously be the wiser choice. PS RFX, do you wear your boots with dress socks, if so how's the comfort level after a long day of walking?

It depends on which boots I wear. But whne I do wear dress socks with a full leather soled boots, it hurt like hell in the beginning because I was used tosneakers but afetr about a month of wear, i got used to it.

Most of my leather soled boots also has a tiny layer of rubber now too, which makes it a lot more comfortable. I do not feel all the tiny pebbles or cracks onthe floor.
I highly recommend it, it makes the shoe last longer and makes it wearable in the rain, although it rarely rains in SoCal. It is well worth the $16-$25 to geta rubber layer placed on the sole though.

RFX,

Can you explain more about the rubber layer placed on the sole? How does that work?

It is similar to this, Dainite soles. This is pretty new and might be expensive but it is just an example. You can ahve a regular rubber or vibram applied fora cheaper price.

Any local cobbler should be able to place one for your shoes. It is like resoling your shoes with rubber sole, simlar procedure. It can be glued or hammered inwith nails depending on the original sole.
I would suggest getting them to place a rubber as thin as possible so that it isn't too bulky.
The website I provided has some information on how and what it done.

I hope that helped a bit.

If you're going to cover the sole with rubber anyway, what's the point of buying leather soled shoes from the start? I don't own apair, mainly because I fear of them being slippery when walking in wet areas. My step dad has several though.
