During a thunderstorm do you turn everything off?

Do you chill and just say eff it or get all cautious and turn everything off? My mom turns off everything, won't shower, wash dishes or stand near a window. My dad goes to his man cave and just chills in the dark.

If I'm ever on the phone w. them and there's a clap of thunder...they hang up before I can say bye...it's that serious...
