Dwight Howard is avg 9 shots per gm...who's to blame?

Would a thread called "Dwight Howard is avg 14 shots per gm...who's to blame?" I say no.
Not really though. He's averaging the same amount of free throw attempts as the past two seasons. Yet, his shot attempts are down almost 25 percent from the previous two years.

I get you. Im just saying. Its not like he isnt shooting at all.

Patrick Ewing?

9 shots a game is on himself - he gets what he gets since he doesn't have a face-up game

Yeah dwight might score 30 here and there, but its not constent.
What does this have to do with my post?
well u posted a chart saying that dwight takes about a couple shots in games, and people like barnes and JJ take more, now im explaining to you is that a lot of centers don't get the ball to much, they are there for defense not putting up shots and scoring 20+ PPG. Teams revolve around PG, SG, and sometimes SF, the PF and C are there for defense...(does that make sence to you?)

you're making generalizations...I'm talkingspecifically about Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic.

@ "teams revolve around the PG and the SG"...you need alegit post threat to win a championship. Outside of Michael Jordan, can you tell me the last time a team without a dominant big won the title? I'll wait.

*and for those people saying that Dwight has no real post game, this is true. BUT..you still have to find a way to get him the ball in a position where he canscore. How many times do the Magic run a pick and roll for Howard? Seems to me like like that would be a good way to get him more involved.

Ben Wallace only dominated on one side of the court...

That Pistons had a legitimate post thread in Rasheed Wallace...and a coach in Larry Brown that demanded he post up more often.

i dont care if he doesnt have post moves, dwight howard should at least shoot the ball 20 times..

but thats what happens when you're surrounded by shooters.

exactly what I was going to say.

7 shot attempts tonight

*Good point RawSheed what exactly is Patrick Ewing teaching him?

don't blame ewing because dwight is incompetent or simply lacks the talent

Plus there's more reliable offensive weapons on the team now than a few years ago. And its working in their favor the Magic's win total have increasedas his shots go down. At this point he's a more athletic and glorified Kendrick Perkins.

I loved the idea of Ewing being his coach, because by now I assumed Dwight would have developed a back to the basket, post game. So then once that wasthere, he could incorporate a little shooting into his game to make him much more versatile and dangerous and Patrick would have made perfect sense.

I really think Dwight just can't learn well. He's been in the league long enough that he should have SOME post moves, maybe improve his FT%,but that hasn't been the case. So I'm not really surprised Ewing's coaching hasn't really shown so far, I think Dwight is just a stubbornlearner.

It's a shame because he's one of my favorite player's in the league, I really expected a breakthrough this past year, but I've beendisappointed.

Jump shooting team, what ya expect?

This all falls on the coaching. They can easily be a halfcourt inside-out kind of team but they choose not to be. They let the perimeter players make plays andthat won't bode well em'.

Horrible post up game & bad foot work in the post.

If he were playing for the Lakers was playing in the triangle offense & had Kareem mentoring him a few years Dwight would be just as dominant as Shaq wasduring the 3 peat years.

Right now Bynum>D12 on post up moves and foot work. But D12>>>Bynum on defense & rebounding.

If he's not dunking on somebody, he has no moves down low. It's a shame too, because he probably has the most natural athletic ability in the league.
