Easiest way to Unlock Iphone 3G? ...

I searched around on Google and it's saying some sites don't fully unlock it ... it has signal loss & other flaws..
can someone point me in the right direction? im doing it for a friend.. don't really know much about the 3G.. i still have the 1st iPhone..
