and nobody forces you to watch ESPN. get the info you want, scores, highlights, etc...then change the damn channel. it's a 24-hour sports channel, there's only so much to watch, and the hottest topics are going to get repeated and analyzed thoroughly.

I'm sure you were watching ESPN in the mid-to-late 90s and the early part of this decade.
They were much more objective then, much less forced, much more enjoyable, fresh, and informative. They GAVE the news instead of FABRICATING it, and thereinlies the difference.
It's one thing to say, "That bank was robbed! Let me tell you about it!" It's a completely different thing to say, "That guys wearing aski mask (neglecting to mention that it's 5 below) and he's walking into that bank! This looks like a robbery! Let me tell you about it!"
Since... I'd say... about '03, ESPN has been the latter, doing more creation and fabrication of news stories, and less 'informationaljournalism'.
The 'Terrell Owens threatened SUICIDE!' story last year was completely symbolic of ESPN over the last few years. Despite my antipathy towards Owens, Icompletely believe that he was never suicidal, and didn't deserve any of the negative attention he got that day.
P.S. Quoting yourself?
