AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Former Detroit Pistons coach Chuck Dalyhas been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

The team says Friday that Daly "is being treated for the cancer and his family is requesting privacy."

Daly coached the Pistons to NBA championships in 1989 and 1990. He also was the coach of the 1992 gold medal-winning US Olympic squad dubbed the "DreamTeam." He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994.

Family spokesman Matt Dobek says in the release that as a coach Daly was "known as the Prince of Pessimism, right now Chuck Daly is the King ofOptimism."

Our cousin (about 60 years old) was diagnosed with the same type of cancer.... died in 4 weeks.
 
I hate cancer. Hate it with all my heart and soul.

My Dad has been battling Pancreatic Cancer since July.
he went from 190 lbs and a 38 waist to right now 125 lbs 30 waist.
He just went in for another endoscopy today

Man, I can't imagine how horrible it is to get the news from the doc that you have cancer. I don't know if I could handle it. Hope I just get a goodold fashion heart attack instead, God damn cancer.

I knew what you mean my sister has been battling Leukemia for 4 years. All she looks like is a skeleton. She developed graft vs host in the liver.All the docters can do is make her comfortable now. Its hard daling with this stuff.
Hope chuck can beat this

my prayers are with your dad as well
 
Yeah, pancreatc cancer is a death sentence, my sister was diagnosed at the age of 30...diagnosed in may 2003, died in July 2003.
