Whats up guys

I had a Western Digital 4TB that recently stopped connecting to my iMac. Total drag because I had a ton of data on there.

Wanted to see if anyone had a HDD they recommend. Need something that can last with a desktop mac. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried Seagate? Bummer that the WD failed on you. How old was it?

I've used both Seagate and WD and haven't had any HDD failures.

it was 2 years old. So frustrating. Working now to recover it.

Seagate is a good brand, thanks man I'll look into one of those.

I've heard issues with both brands. But, I'm surprised the WD died after 2 years of use.

It might be the power supply. Try taking it apart from the housing and buying this:

You might be able to recover all your info.

I've used it and had success for recovering a failed external drive

I don't know why it's not showing, maybe it'll work now

Currently have a portable Seagate 2TB I got from costco for about $70. Connects instantly, moves files easily, no issues/complaints

Currently using a WD My book 1TB. Ive been using it for about 10 years now, its survived 3 drops(on carpet) and its still running well.
