Yep, the color borders break up the m to make it look like an r. Always been like that you can just notice it more now with these generic colorways coming out
OG 95s actually have "airmax"
For whatever reason, Nike decided to combine the r and the m, making it "aimax"
I'm trying to search for pics in the meantime. The four OG 95s had "airmax" on the tongue with a line going through the "i" but since around 1998 or 99, the "airmax" logo has become standard.
