My brother may end up on a NFL team I despise and they play the Lions this year.

I told my moms I rooted for the Lions before he was alive so I give no dambs,

Am I outta line?

Be a fan of that team as well, not that serious esp when its a sibling.

Hate the team, love your bro, and hate the fact that he plays for a team that you hate...

Thing is me and my bro have always hated this team but now that its feasible they will pick him up I don't know.

I feel some kinda way just thinking about it.

I always said ill root for any team that gives him a shot even if they cut him.

Its not that serious

And you never know what team will draft you especially if you aren't a top tier prospect.

Paul Pierce grew up in LA, hated Boston, gets drafted by Boston.

Read up on how his family is doing.

got a cousin that, afaik might end up on a team. his fam are ******** fans. i'm a giants fan. his mom/dad would root for him regardless.

honestly, i told myself i'd root for him and his success. i didn't say his teams success. its gmen all day but thats blood.

i say that but if he ended up on the patriots or some ****...na.

:{

Instant Fan of that team. Blood>>>>>>>>>

Seriously. While I would keep a rooting interest in 'my team', if my brother went to Baltimore tomorrow I would instantly cheer for them. It's your f'ing family. Not like these pro teams care you are their fan. It isn't like a college where you went, studied, got educated and paid money to go so it is forever part of your identity

^I see what you're saying but if you are from the city that the team plays in they represent you in a way even though its not on the same level as college. Plus when you have 20+ years of emotional investment its hard to break that. I could never just stop being a ******** fan, and I don't care who in my family worked/played for the Cowboys I would never become a Cowboys fan :lol I could hope my family member does well but I could never root for them to beat the Skins.

Its not really the same thing, but when players from my school get drafted I'm usually hoping they won't go to a team I hate. I didn't wanna see David Wilson on the Giants but at the same time I knew that was a good situation for him and was happy to see him go to a good team + big market. I already watched a lot of their games anyways since theyre in our division and I'd watch hoping for him to do well but the team to lose.

If it was another team that I'm neutral towards like the Niners or Dolphins then I could definitely start rooting for them as well, but they'd never replace my original team.

You understand

Y'all take sports too seriously. Invest so much emotion a franchise that probably doesn't care about anything you ever do in your life.

I'd root for him and his team. Same thing happened to my friend years ago, ended up rooting for the Packers as well.

Your team doesnt care about you one millionth of a percent the way you care about them. This is as onesided as any relationship gets. Ide rep any team a family member played for.
