Favre Rumors Swirl; Packers: "Nothing To It"

By Jay Sorgi

For four minutes, the Green Bay Packers' web site listed a "Favre to Retire" page saying the Packers quarterback of 17 years was calling it a career.
The Sporting News states it was up for four minutes, then it was gone.
A Packers spokesman tells Newsradio 620 WTMJ the posting should give fans no reason to believe it's actually going to happen.
"There's nothing to it," says Packers Public Relations Director Jeff Blumb. He stated they prepare this story every year, just in case he does retire, or .
Blumb also stated the team had the same story last year, and he chose to return. They also created stories to prepare for his return, should he decide to do so.
The Packers' move to create a story like the screen shot above is not unusual.
Like the Packers and other news organizations, we do a similar process for pre-creating templatesfor stories like the upcoming Favre decision that cannot be published until actual news comes, to better serve web users.
Stay tuned to your Packers flagship, Newsradio 620 WTMJ, for all you need to know about Brett Favre's decision - whichever way he leans.
