For four minutes, the Green Bay Packers' web site listed a "Favre to Retire" page saying the Packers quarterback of 17 years was calling it a career.

The Sporting News states it was up for four minutes, then it was gone.

A Packers spokesman tells Newsradio 620 WTMJ the posting should give fans no reason to believe it's actually going to happen.

"There's nothing to it," says Packers Public Relations Director Jeff Blumb. He stated they prepare this story every year, just in case he does retire, or .

Blumb also stated the team had the same story last year, and he chose to return. They also created stories to prepare for his return, should he decide to do so.

The Packers' move to create a story like the screen shot above is not unusual.

Like the Packers and other news organizations, we do a similar process for pre-creating templatesfor stories like the upcoming Favre decision that cannot be published until actual news comes, to better serve web users.

Stay tuned to your Packers flagship, Newsradio 620 WTMJ, for all you need to know about Brett Favre's decision - whichever way he leans.

Negative.

ESPN just said the team president expects him back. The website says nothing either.

If this isn't shocking enough, just wait until the harsh realities of Aaron Rodgers being the starting QB start to set in.

I'm on it, I see it.

I got respect for dude and this is coming from a Niner fan.

Great career Brett and a good way to go out. He showed us all that he still had a lot left in the tank this past season.

NA NA NA NAAA HEY HEY GOODBYE...... Good riddance, now we wont have to listen to john madden making love to brett with his mouth and a microphone. Im sureBrett will be in the booth shortly though. Favres retirement couldnt come soon enough.
EDIT: or is he not gone..... dont break my heart brett, just go away.

This is a weird day for us Packers fans if this is true. Favre is everything to us.
Rodgers is about to blow though.....

How is it fake? I got there directly from nfl.com, then retyped the "breaking_news", and got to the same page?
