Finally a licensed pharmacist!

Congrats how was the road to becoming a pharmacist? I'm in the pre pharm program at my school, but I'm not so sure. Were you always sure of it that you wanted to become a pharmacist?

Just wondering, what do you do as a pharmacist? Do you work in a pharmacy like CVS or in a corporation?
Yup, work at CVS, and the hourly wage is great (comes out to $127k/yr)
Those pharmacists at CVS make that much bank?

Some people have a bad perception of retail pharmacy but I enjoy it b/c I'm a people person. And most people that I serve are very appreciative of my drug counseling. Obviously there are always pressures from ppl up top regarding profits, but what business doesn't have that. The key thing though is CVS is run mostly by pharmacists (their CEO is one too) so at least they have pharmacy in their heads for the most part.

Great job, good pay. Going to buy my first car soon since my commute is a b***tch, and my mom a house in a few months. Great to be spending your own money, instead of that government loans that I now have to pay back soon.

That's awesome, really inspirational too. I looked into Pharmacy earlier this year but I'm not so good at chemistry

Props for looking out for your mom too... I know a lot of people would splurge on something for themselves as soon as they made it, but you're giving back to your roots

Congrats, you are now one of many pawns for the pharmaceutical industry.

Good job finishing up, though.

They don't make the pills, those are made at the pharmaceutical factories. I think they sort and issue prescriptions?

not really. i was always great at math, so initially I wanted to be an engineer in undergrad. But we all knew the job market around the mid-90s in regards to that, so I switched to pharmacy. It's a good job and people trust you a ton.

common misconception bro. We can do that, but we have techs for that. What we do at CVS or moreso in hospital environments is to make sure the right drug is being filled according to the prescription, make sure there are no drug interations (and if there are, we notify the doctor for drug changes or notify the patient), side effects, and a ton of patient counseling. I get around 30 questions a day from customers purely off of OTCs stuff and what is good and what they should buy. And you get a ton of questions on birth controls, and common things that people aren't really sure of, and we advise them on that.

But it's understandable that people think that's all we do.
